Donald Francis Brode Donald attended the Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, Calif. until his work was interrupted by an attack of arthritis (Mar. 14, 1915). In November 1920 he underwent an operation which, while it left him stiffened into one position, arrested the pain. He then took up the study of architecture under tutors at USC and in 1930 he received his architectural certificate from the state of California. He has been following that profession since that time. In 1926 he accompanied his family on a motor trip to the Atlantic coast. The trip included the southern tier of states and then north to Washington, New York, Boston, and into Canada. The return was through Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois and then west on a central and southern route. It was a remarkable trip considering his physical condition.
