Luther David Brode [Although Howard Brode wrote biographical sketches for his other siblings, as well as several cousins, aunts, uncles, parents, etc., I haven't located one for Luther. Most of the little I know is from what's available online, and small amount of surviving correspondence, etc. He attended the Univ. of Illinois College of Engineering, and thereafter largely worked as a teacher of manual training, moving to Los Angeles circa 1898. However he evidently had side interests, e.g. an association with his brother Arthur in Arthur's electrical supply company circa 1898-1910, and a real estate office in Santa Barbara circa 1920. He lived at an impressive variety of addresses over the years (teaching jobs in Monrovia, San Diego, Santa Barbara and several addresses in L.A.), and for a number of years had a "ranch" near Lake Elizabeth in the Antelope Valley.] |
